Today’s Thought — Lead by Example

We often tell our children…
“Be respectful.”
“Be honest.”
“Stay calm.”
“Take responsibility.”
“Take care of yourself.”

But they are not only listening to our words…
they are watching our actions.

If we want them to learn kindness,
we must show kindness.

If we want them to learn patience,
we must practise patience.

If we want them to take responsibility,
we must take responsibility for our own choices.

Because in life,
our actions teach more than our instructions ever can.

Don’t just tell the next generation
how to live a good life…

Show them.

Lead by example.

Shorter, punchier version

Children may forget what we told them,
but they rarely forget what they saw us do.

Want them to be kind? — Be kind.
Want them to be honest? — Be honest.
Want them to respect others? — Show respect.
Want them to take responsibility? — Take yours.

Because the best way to teach someone how to live…
is to live it yourself.
