That’s a powerful and thoughtful question.
Modern society, especially in urban and digital spheres, often overemphasizes personal success, appearance, and consumption ; sometimes at the cost of empathy, mental health, and community. This has led to rising loneliness, anxiety, competition, and environmental neglect.
If I could change something about modern society, it would be this:
(though list is long, but briefly we can look forward to change following)
1. Mental Health & Connection
- Change:
Normalize vulnerability and emotional education from a young age. - Why:
People feel lonelier and more anxious even though we are more “connected.” Collective well-being should focus on real community and mutual care.
2. Education
- Change:
Update curriculum to cover emotional intelligence, ethics, civic duties, and critical thinking. - Why:
We teach kids how to make a living but not how to live well or be good citizens.
3. Technology
- Change:
Develop ethical design standards that prioritize human well-being over profit. - Why:
Platforms benefit from division and distraction. A realignment could encourage better use.
4. Work Culture
- Change:
Value purpose, balance, and dignity in all forms of work — not just productivity or status. - Why:
Burnout culture is not sustainable. People need time to be themselves, not just to work.
5. Environment
- Change:
Value environmental sustainability as a core societal principle. - Why:
Our survival relies on a long-term perspective that values shared futures.
